Guitarist, educator, and performer.
About
Ben Weatherford is a guitarist, educator, and performer originally from Richmond, Virginia. His musical foundation began early with piano studies and church singing before discovering the guitar at age 14, when it became his primary focus. From bands and open mics to school jazz ensembles and sitting in at local jazz clubs, he immersed himself in the Richmond music scene from the start, laying the foundation for his career.
Graduating from the Berklee College of Music, Ben relocated to Atlanta, where he has built a reputation as a highly sought-after performer, accompanist, and educator. He has shared the stage with acclaimed artists including Pat Bianchi, Jeff Pifher, Don Braden, Anat Cohen, Mace Hibbard, and Robert Boone, and has performed with respected organizations such as The Strand Theatre, Synchronicity Theatre, Breman Theatre, the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, and the Augusta Symphony. His work spans jazz, country, contemporary music, and collaborative performance across a wide range of settings.
Equally committed to education, Weatherford is an in-demand educator and clinician whose students have gone on to attend leading music institutions including the University of North Texas, Berklee College of Music, and the Eastman School of Music. He maintains a thriving private studio and currently serves on the faculty at Columbus State University, Jacksonville State University, Georgia State University, the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Through both performance and teaching, Weatherford continues to shape the next generation of musicians while maintaining an active presence on stage in the southeast.
